Privacy Policy

Golf Guru (“Golf Guru,” “we,” “us”) is a golf coaching platform operated by Get A Grip Golf Performance, LLC, doing business as Golf Guru, at 2183 W Sombra Ave, Apache Junction, AZ 85120. This policy covers the Golf Guru coaching app at app.golfguru360.com and explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can control it.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly, and information created by using the app:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password when you create an account (we never store your password itself, only a one-way hash of it).
  • Coaching activity: practice sessions and individual shots you log (contact quality, strike location, direction, club, focus area), rounds you log (score, greens/fairways in regulation, putts, course, date, your own post-round reflection notes), club distances, and periodic self-assessment check-ins.
  • Lesson content: lesson videos and notes your coach adds to your account, your ratings and feedback about lessons, and any messages you send our AI coaching assistant (see “Third parties” below).
  • Lesson recordings: if your coach records a lesson's audio, that recording is stored in your coach's own Google Drive, transcribed, and summarized into a notes draft by AI — see “Third parties” below for exactly which services process it.
  • Community content: posts, comments, likes, and any video you upload to the community feed.
  • Payment information: if you purchase a lesson package or membership, payment is processed by PayPal — we receive confirmation and package details, never your full card number.
  • Device information: if you enable notifications, your browser's push-notification subscription details (an endpoint and encryption keys assigned by your browser, not by us).

How we use this information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the coaching platform itself — your dashboard, practice/round history, and coaching feedback.
  • Let your coach review your progress and tailor lessons and drills to you.
  • Send you account-related email (invites, notifications you've opted into) and, if enabled, push notifications.
  • Process payments for lesson packages and memberships.
  • Maintain and secure the app itself.

We do not sell your personal information, ever, to anyone.

Third parties we share information with

Golf Guru is built on top of a small number of real, named services, each used for a specific, limited purpose:

  • Google (Drive and YouTube) — your coach's own connected Google account is used to store and stream lesson videos, to store any lesson audio recording your coach makes, and to host videos you upload to the community feed (as unlisted YouTube videos — not publicly searchable, playable only via direct link). See the dedicated YouTube API Services section below for the specific disclosures Google requires.
  • GoHighLevel (GHL) — your coach's scheduling and CRM system. It supplies your upcoming lesson bookings shown in the app, and receives lesson activity that feeds your coach's own client-communication workflows.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — if you use the in-app AI coaching assistant, the messages you type and relevant coaching context are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. If your coach records a lesson, the transcript of that recording is also sent to Anthropic to draft notes from it. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
  • OpenAI — if your coach records a lesson, the raw audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API to generate a text transcript, before that transcript goes to Anthropic to draft notes as described above. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
  • PayPal — processes payments for lesson packages and memberships. See PayPal's Privacy Statement.
  • GolfCourseAPI — supplies real course and tee rating data when you look up a golf course; only your course search itself is sent, not your personal account information.
  • Email and hosting infrastructure — transactional email (invites, notifications) is delivered through our email provider, and the app itself runs on standard cloud hosting and database infrastructure (e.g. Vercel).

YouTube API Services

Golf Guru uses YouTube API Services. By using the parts of Golf Guru that involve video (lesson videos, and uploading a video to the community feed), you acknowledge and agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.

Here is exactly how this works: your coach connects their own YouTube channel to Golf Guru once, via Google's standard OAuth sign-in. You, as a client, never sign in with a Google account to use Golf Guru — when you upload a video to the community feed, the app uses your coach's already-connected authorization to upload it to your coach's own YouTube channel as an unlisted video (not publicly searchable; viewable only by direct link, exactly like every other lesson video in this app). The video file itself is sent directly from your device to Google's servers.

For information about how Google handles data in general, see the Google Privacy Policy. If your coach (or anyone else) has granted Golf Guru access to a Google Account, that access can be revoked at any time from Google's own security settings at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.

Questions or complaints about how Golf Guru handles YouTube-related data specifically can be sent to support@golfguru360.com.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, so your coach can track your progress over time. There is currently no self-serve “delete my account” button inside the app itself — to request deletion, email support@golfguru360.com or ask your coach directly. Deleting an account permanently removes every practice session, round, video record, community post, and self-assessment tied to it; this cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not remove a video already uploaded to YouTube on your coach's channel — contact us and we'll remove that separately.

Security

Passwords are stored as a one-way cryptographic hash, never in plain text. Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information.

Children's privacy

Golf Guru is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Governing law

This policy, and any dispute arising from it, is governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to how we collect or use your information, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know directly.
